And just like that, my first solo show opening reception is in the books!
While The Feeling of Water has been hanging since 8/2/25, I chose to host the reception on a special, symbolic date — 8/8. In numerology, eight represents infinity, and a double eight signifies a period of abundance, growth, and manifestation. It felt only fitting to welcome my first-ever opening reception on a day pulsing with heightened energy.
Once the tables and chairs were shuttled out, OB Beans Coffee Roasters transformed from a coffee shop into an intimate gallery space. The turnout was incredible — a steady stream of guests all night long (so much so the AC had trouble keeping up!).
The atmosphere was lively and vibes were high, thanks to a great mix of adults, kiddos, and rambunctious pups. A 12x36 charcuterie board (crafted by yours truly and her mama), flowing wine, and coffee and tea from Stephanie at the barista bar, all helped complement the art and create a standout evening.
I loved hearing your feedback on The Feeling of Water. Many of you noted the pastel color palette, the lightness and brightness of the work, and the cohesiveness across the series. I displayed my concepts and inspiration moodboard, a glimpse into my process from the planning phase before any painting began. Some fellow artists told me they’re inspired to start incorporating moodboards into their own practice, which made me happy to pass forward.
I sold two small paintings, The Feeling of Water Edition No. 3 and Crowded Lineup No. 1. Thank you Burt and Kay!
Around the space, I set up a few interactive stations — a guest book, the People’s Choice Awards, Free Print Giveaway, and Flow & Create station. Guests used colored pencils, markers, Polaroid photos, and collaged magazine cutouts to add their personal touch to a large collective poster answering the question: What does The Feeling of Water evoke for you?
The visual and written mementos you left were pure magic. A few of my favorites:
“Zero cell service”
“Flow”
“Endless summer”
“Freedom”
This collaborative piece will be a treasured keepsake of mine for years to come.
A heartfelt thank you to my collectors, friends, family, fellow artists, OB Beans patrons, and even the curious passersby who stepped in from the street. You made this night an unforgettable start to my solo exhibition journey.
